The Secret Behind the Unequal Distribution of the Divine Nectar

Question

Based on this explanation, our next question is: why was the payas (divine nectar) distributed unequally among the queens?

Answer

I believe that the unequal distribution of the payas can also be understood on the same foundation that we just discussed.

There will be some repetition here, because the payas — the sacred nectar given to Dasharatha’s queens — was distributed according to the same four qualities we just explored: Rama, Lakshman, Bharat, and Shatrughna.

The mystery of the unequal distribution can be grasped only when we look at it in terms of the hierarchy or priority among these four inner qualities.

If we understand these four as spiritual qualities — Rama representing Self-realization, Lakshman representing mastery over one’s thoughts, Bharat representing the sharing of divine virtues, and Shatrughna representing the power to destroy inner vices — then the payas was divided based on their spiritual importance, not on material fairness.

On the physical level, the distribution may appear unjust.
But on the spiritual level, it reflects the natural order of priority among these four qualities — the degree of importance each holds in the awakening of the Self.

So from the standpoint of spirituality, the unequal distribution of payas was perfectly just and meaningful.
